June 4

We went to Vider today, Wednesday, for interviews with President Lake. We had our district meeting as well. Sister Lake took over the meeting and talked about questions of the soul. She is very knowledgeable about the gospel. I think they are looking forward to returning home. Three years is a long time. I think that one-year will be long enough. Following the meeting we stopped and visited with two active families, Brother and Sister Welch Sr. and their son. They live way out there. I guess that doesn’t make much sense but we don’t get out there very often. We also stopped and visited with Douglas again. We gave him the Plan of Salvation. He was baptized with he was eight and didn’t have any support system. I guess he attended a year and has never returned. He promised to come to church this Sunday.

Tuesday we gave four lessons too less active members. We met one for the first time and she had a question about baptism for the dead. We talked to her about and ended up giving her the first two lessons. She invited us to return. She has been a member for many years.

We also visited the Dehm family. We had to call to find their home. The roads are crazy. We finally them. They have three dogs, seven cats and a talking bird. In the morning when they take the cover from his cage he says, “Good morning darling.” This family is active. They have two teenage daughters and two young boys. We will visit and teach them a family home evening lesson.

The weather is in the 90’s and the humidity is in the 90’s, which makes for a hot day. Tomorrow is p-day. We don’t know what we are going to do but will just play it by ear.
