28 August

Dear Family,
Well it is Thursday already my how time flies; can you catch them with a fly bat? No pun intended. It is so very hot here today. We are packing in preparation to our move and new assignment to work in a new city with a ward that has over 300 less active, so??? What does the gospel mean to my family and me??? I took the tools out to put them in a box in the back of the car, and put a new valve cap on the little donut tire under the car somehow it got lost when we had a flat returning from the temple. That was a miracle because it did not go flat until we parked in front of our apartment after driving 90 miles, otherwise we would have been in trouble for certain.

We had district meetings yesterday and an interview with our new mission president, it went well we discussed the details of our move to Silsbee Texas about 40 miles away. Mom says we are coming back to be at the new family home evening group that we set up two meetings together they are all excited to have the opportunity to be together as ward members. Trouble, some have lived here 5 years and have not been in each other’s home, just seeing them at church, is that sad. Our tires are getting worn a lot I think we will have to have new ones before we can come back home. This week all of the children and college started for the fall program. Mom is packing dishes and foods cleaning the closets in prep for Tuesday, it seems that we always worked on Labor Day, what do you remember?
Love Dad,

I guess that Regan is on the plane on his way back home for a new school year, Good
Luck Regan

Tuesday we helped a member can hamburger. It turned out pretty good. We also helped her put rice and beans and wheat in bags and sealed them. She was grateful for the help. She didn’t know how to use a pressure cooker. Judy Allen came also to help and to learn how to do meat. They had a great time together. After so many years of seeing each other in church they are now getting to know each other. Isn’t that something?

We are excited about our move. Looking forward to having a new apartment with two bedrooms so if any of you decide to come and visit we will have a bedroom. Also there is a washer and dryer in the apartment. I went today and washed. It cost about five dollars each time we wash plus the time and travel. We are coming back for education week in a couple of weeks. Sister O’Dell invited us to stay with them over night. It will be fun.

Love you lots. I will try again to send the picture of the cloud.
Love Mom
